Composer David Stone Hamilton is a Los Angeles based film and television composer. Classically trained, he began formal studies in composition and music theory with the late avant-garde composer William Karlins, electronic music composer Stephen Syverud, and with Grammy Award Winner Augusta Read Thomas at Northwestern University. Soon after he began collaborating with student filmmakers, David developed a passion for composing music for visual media and sought more specialized training. He went on to study film scoring with Deniz Hughes, and music editing techniques with Timothy J. Starnes (Lord Of The Rings Trilogy) at NYU’s Scoring for Motion Pictures and Multimedia Master of Music program.
David recently composed the scores to 88 directed by April Mullen, Chasing Yesterday directed by Joe Pernice, Army of Frankensteins directed by Ryan Bellgardt, and he has contributed additional music for Al Pacino’s Wilde Salome and Julie Delpy’s 2 Days in New York. David’s music has been featured on NBC, VH1, MTV, The History Channel, and Comedy Central.
